A thank you from Jeffery Moore

Posted by: Jeffery    in Personal Writings

To all my friends and family, I want to send a special thank you for your kind wishes here on facebook, through phone calls, and through email!

Turning 36, happily married to a beautiful and wonderful wife, two wonderful little boys, experiencing a closer walk with Jesus Christ, and having so many loving family members and friends is really awesome, and for your part in my life, I say a thank you that words may never express the magnitude of.

People come into our lives, some only for a little while, some are lifelong, but I truly do believe that each and every person is there for a reason. We may not always notice that reason immediately, and sometimes, maybe never truly realise it, but there is a reason. We are in each other’s life for a reason, and I pray that God use me to lift up, inspire, and motivate you and everyone I meet to see His light and love.

It has been very humbling to see such a reaction to this birthday, possibly one of the biggest in my life. I truly am grateful for each and every single person taking the time to wish me well. I look forward to the coming years, and pray the Lord to bless us all beyond measure, according to His will.

If you remember but one thing about me, remember that I strive to love you as Christ does, and see you through His eyes, so that nothing but true compassion and friendship shines through. To be a faithful and humble servant to our Lord, to be there when you need me, always eager to lift you up to Him.

With Love,
Jeffery Moore

How To Employ the Guy Handshake Hug Combo

Posted by: Jeffery    in Think on This

As literally as we in the church take the apostle Paul, we have no problem skipping over Romans 16:16. Instead of the recommended kiss to greet one another, men of the church have developed the Guy Handshake-Hug Combo.

The GHHC says, “Friends don’t shake hands- friends hug…but not with both hands.”

Here’s some tips on properly employing the Guy Handshake- Hug.

Follow carefully:

1. As you approach the other individual, start the conversation.

2. Extend your right hand for the handshake. Use a firm grip.

3. Don’t let go of the handshake.

4. Extend your left hand around to the back of the person you’re greeting.

5. Slap high, near the shoulder blades- never low on the back or near the belt.

6. Turn your head to the left to avoid facial contact or the awkward moment when
you don’t know which side your head should go and onlookers think the two of
you might kiss.

7. Keep talking.

8. Slap three (3) times. Slap. Do not pat. Patting signals weakness. Slap.
The harder you slap, the manlier you are.

9. Each slap represents one word in the Evangelical Guy Code Book.
Three slaps during the GHHC says, “I’m…not…gay.”

10. Never, ever touch cheeks to another man.

11. Never, ever rest your head on the shoulder of another man.

12. Absolutely never, ever cry on another man’s shoulder.
Remember Ed Norton and Meat Loaf in” Fight Club”?

13. After the three slaps, wait a fraction of a second before pulling away.
Pulling away too quickly sends a similar vibe to patting the other person’s back.

14. Keep talking.

15. Pull back from the hug maneuver and establish proper distance for
talking face to face.

16. Let go of the handshake. Be careful to release the entire hand simultaneously.
Never let one finger linger longer than the others!

17. Keep talking.

18. The move is complete. Congrats on implementing a successful GHHC!

For My Son Alex

   Posted by: Jeffery    in Family

Dear Son,

Last night you saw your daddy in pain. With an ankle swollen pretty bad, and chest pains that even I thought was a sign of the end. I know you realised the severity of it and saw it in your little face, even when I tried to joke it off with you, or change the subject. I slept in your bed for you and brother to sleep with your momma, just in case my end was at hand, I didn’t want you to find me. It felt that the end was that close, that real. I knew if I could hold out for a few more hours I would see the doctor, instead of waiting for hours in an emergency room, so I held out on the e.r., but prayed that I could hold out, that our Lord would hold me and help me bear it until then.

As I layed in your bed, you came and wanted to ‘camp’ out with me. You told me that I needed you there, and as nervous as I was, I really did. We layed there and watched some tv (my show) until you mentioned we could watch your show, a cartoon. I was happy to say yes, and really loved seeing you light up as we watched cartoons for a little while, before you fell asleep.

The most important thing I remember is before you fell asleep, I told you that we would trust God to help me get to see the dr and get better. Your response to me cheered me, lifted me, and even now chokes me up. “Jesus will take the pain, and you will be ok, and I can wait here with you” You said this smiling, knowing that He would take care of us, you wanted help for me, and you expected it, the perfect formula for answered prayers.

Later on, I woke up, and went back to my bed, and so you wouldn’t be alone, momma come got in the bed with you. I woke up to find you snuggled right beside me. I found out you woke up after I left asking where I was, and come to be next to me again. Even walking from one end of the house to the other in the dark (which I know you are not a fan of the dark). This touched me son, that you knew to call on Jesus for help, and that you would face your own fear to be with me and supportive, and wait on Jesus to get me through the night, right beside me.

As your daddy, I want the very best for you, and want you to always trust in Jesus. Sometimes I wonder what you absorb and understand, but you have shown that the greatest lesson to learn, trusting in Jesus, and believing in Jesus, is a lesson that you understand very well. It thrills my heart and my soul to see that. I know the Lord is looking on you, smiling and proud, that you know who He is, believe in Him, and trust Him to take care of you, and know how to go to Him, unwavering. The greatest gift any daddy could have.

My son, I love you,

Love,
Daddy
